Our Professional Credentials

Dr. Jeffrey J. Felixbrod, our Clinical Director, has been a distinguished Behavioral Psychologist for more than 30 years. He has received numerous accolades for his professional work as a Behavior Therapist in the treatment of both adults and children. Dr. Felixbrod is a published author in the field on Behavior Modification, and has served as an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. He has been a member of the American Psychological Association, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy, and Phi Beta Kappa.

As Director of the Behavior Therapy Institute of New York, Dr. Felixbrod has developed and implemented Behavior Therapy treatments for relationship problems, anxiety and depression, obesity and eating disorders, sexual problems, attention deficit disorder, and children's behavioral problems. Dr. Felixbrod has also served on the staff of
St. Joseph's Medical Center in Westchester (1981-1988), where he directed Behavior Therapy and Behavior Modification programs for adults and children. His work in the area of social skills training was the subject of a national television broadcast.

While at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Dr. Felixbrod directed one of the most comprehensive treatment programs for weight loss in the United States. This program includes Eating Habit Modification, Nutritional Instruction, Physical Activity and Exercise, Lifestyle Change, and Behavioral Counseling. Copies of a medical news report about the long-term success of this treatment are available upon request.

Dr. Felixbrod is President of National Medical Equipment, Inc., a company devoted to the application of biofeedback devices to the treatment of specific impairments, such as bedwetting and stuttering. One of these devices, known as the Fluency Master, has been the focus of numerous medical news broadcasts, and has changed the lives of many people who had stuttered severely. Dr. Felixbrod has also served as Director of the Enuresis Institute of New York, a multidisciplinary practice devoted to the treatment of bedwetting.

At the Child Development Clinic of Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center (1973-1976), Dr. Felixbrod worked on the application of behavior modification procedures to the treatment of attention deficit disorder and children's behavioral problems. As an integral part of this treatment, he has traveled to children's homes and schools to systematically train parents and teachers in the use of behavior modification procedures.

Dr. Felixbrod's research in the field of Behavioral Child Psychology has been published in the Journal of Educational Psychology and the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis.
